I enjoyed what I learnt, but there was no connection between the shading techniques and where to use the in drawing. The Mandela was not a good example of using the technique of shading. In contrast the perspective teaching and application of the grid was useful

Very good teaching skills and good pace, would have liked to have chosen one skill say perspective and spent time on developing that.

I thought the workshop was brilliant. It would be good if maybe longer session or over a few weeks to build more skills and finish a piece of work. Good teacher.

I?m a big fan of the artist L S Lowry. I like to put figures in a space to tell a story of a narrative going on , and Bath is a great city in this respect and Lowry is my inspiration. In this painting I experimented by painting the buildings in black and white and the figures in colour.

Drawn from imagination using ink pens then washed over with water on a paint brush to allow the ink to move and spread across the paper. When dry, permeant ink was used to sharpen the lines and bronze paint added.

Lily, my ten year old granddaughter, lives in Brooklyn New York and as she will be graduating from her school soon, her mother had asked her what she would like to give as a present to her teachers when she leaves in the summer. Lily replied that she would like her grandad (me) to do a drawing of her school! Well, how could I refuse and I have now finished it. She wants to present it to the school and give prints to all her teachers and to her classmates (she is the one in the middle). I hope th

This painting is my response to a work by Ukrainian artists . Lolita Sanamyan. We are part of a small group, five Somerset artists and seven Ukrainian, Artists in Dialogue, established a few months after the beginning of the invasion. We use a virtual platform to have a ?conversation? through art. Her painting showed a gull skimming the top of a wild wave. My response was to show my hope that her gull would soon be flying in the safety of clear blue skies.

I always like to present themes of stillness and self-discovery in my work, It?s a reminder to slow down, to find peace in simplicity, and to let the environment speakthis artwork evokes a deep sense of tranquility and introspection. The scene depicts a solitary figure which is me, standing on a wooden dock , gazing out over a misty lake surrounded by lush greenery and distant, foggy mountains. The soft, muted color palette?dominated by greens, blues, and grays?creates a serene, almost et

This piece was created while attending an art retreat by Milan Art Institute in Sarasota, Florida. The theme of the retreat was beneath the surface. I combined two images to add the mermaid in the background of the turtle image, creating a unique source. This painting combines collage, acrylic ink, spray paint, acrylic paint and is finished off with oil paint to encompass texture and vibrancy. As a New Englander I love being on or around the water. This piece brought out my passion for sea life

This pop of spring is created on 6x6 ceramic tile, mounted on glass and inserted in a 8x8 shadow box. I am a fluid, acrylic artist. The background was created by transferring a ?pour? with the main subject painted with fluid acrylics using a plastic spoon. Those spoons aren?t just for takeout. Embellishments are my touch of whimsy.

I took up oil painting after retiring from the the NHS. Bournville looks stunning on a snowy day when the sun is shining. I worked this from a photo I took when the light was perfect. The colours of snow are magical. It is never white. The perspective on the Rest house is quite challenging!
